PIEDRAS ROJAS DE HIERRO FULL DAY

The best places in San Pedro de Atacama on our most complete tour !! We start early in the morning, at 7 am, we will head towards the town of Socaire, to the south, and the Miñiques and Miscanti lagoons, at 4500 meters above sea level. These lagoons are located 115 km to the South East of San Pedro, one of the most beautiful places, with its turquoise waters are surrounded by huge volcanoes. We continue towards the Salar de Aguas Calientes, of singular scenic beauty and abundant wildlife along the route. Later we will be at Piedras Rojas de Hierro, an extremely special geological site that has earned the prestige of being one of the most desirable attractions for travelers. We will continue towards the Salar de Tuyactu to later meet the Salar de Atacama, the 2nd largest on the planet after the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. The interpretation center in the same place will allow us a complete understanding of its origins, wealth, dangers and challenges, after which we can make a walking tour contemplating and taking photos. In the final section we will visit the oasis of Toconao. The fauna that is possible to see is composed of flamingos of the 3 species, Andean gulls, sea chicks, fox, vicuna. The flora is composed of bofedales of green pastures, straw yellow brava, water tola and tola amaia. After a full day of landscapes of another planet we will return to San Pedro at 18:30 hrs aprox. FROM THE ANCESTRAL ROOTS 2D

In this Community-based Tourism program, you have the chance to immerse on the Andean cosmovision in the Ayllu de Coyo, through the experiences of the community itself! We start the experience at night (according to the lunar calendar), we will visit the Village of Tulor, an archeological site that shows the lifestyle of the ancient Lickantatay culture. The local guide will take us to know a little about the interpretation of the stars and the night sky, as well as their importance for the ancestral cultures of the region. After a cocktail sharing with the community, we will return to the hotel. On the second day we will dedicate it to the Oasis and Salares, we start early in the morning to visit the Los Flamencos National Reserve. We will visit the town of Talabare and the petroglyphs of Kezala. We continue our tour of the town of Toconao to reach the Oasis of Jerez. Lunch is not included, but we highly recommend the restaurant "Senderos de Coyo" which is owned by a local family belonging to the Ayllu (indigenous community). After lunch we start the Water Trail, where we will visit the Cejar Lagoon, the Emerald Lagoon (exclusive of the community!), The Ojos del Salar and the Tebenquiche Lagoon. Relive a bit of the history of the villages of the Atacama Desert, through the archaeological remains found in the area !! We start the experience at night (according to the lunar calendar), we will visit the Village of Tulor, an archeological site that shows the lifestyle of the ancient Lickantatay culture. The local guide will take us to know a little about the interpretation of the stars and the night sky, as well as their importance for the ancestral cultures of the region. After a cocktail sharing with the community, we will return to the hotel. The second day we will dedicate it to Archeology, we will visit again the Tulor Village 10km from San Pedro, where a specialized guide will explain a little about the findings made in this region. We continue the trip to Pukara de Quitor, a strategic place from where you can see the entire Valley. Lunch is not included, but we highly recommend the restaurant "Senderos de Coyo" which is owned by a local family belonging to Ayllu (indigenous community). After lunch we start the trip to the Rainbow Valley, a place of indescribable beauty, where the landscape is naturally dyed in terracotta, beige and green colors, a true desert rainbow surrounded by surreal rock formations. We will finish the day's activities ascending to the Domeiko Mountain Range, where we will find the Petroglyphs of Yerba Buena, the largest cave painting reserve in the region !! RED STONES AND SALT LAKES 2D

We will walk through the geological formations of the Red Iron Stones until we reach a place almost unknown by conventional tourists, the Tucaytu Salar, from where you can see the incredible Salar de Atacama. We will visit the Interpretation Center to learn more about the fauna and flora of the region and we will finish our walk in the Oasis of Toconao. SALAR DE TARA 2D

We visited the Bofedal de Quepiaco, to learn about the importance of its existence in the middle of the Puna. Then we will see rock figures with human forms in the Monks of Pacana. In the afternoon we will visit the Salar de Tara and the Salar de Pujsa, an incredible landscape that is also surrounded by ash rocks, which thousands of years ago was expelled by the Vilama Volcano. And on the way back to the hotel we can appreciate the beauty of the fauna and flora of the puna.
