The three hours from the city of La Paz. Covering an area of 176km by 70km, at its ends, and a height of 3810 meters, Lake Titicaca is the world's highest navigable surface. Lake Titicaca is blue and framed by a landscape of snow-capped Andean peaks and fed by melting freshwater. Its islands, dotted with archaeological remains are testimony to the domination exercised Aymara civilizations. Copacabana is a bay of Lake Titicaca.
Formerly a "mystical region", a ceremonial center of the pre-Hispanic cultures, and today is a center of religious pilgrimage where devotees of the "Virgen Morena", the Virgin of Copacabana arrive. The faithful flock to this place to receive the blessings of Virgin traditional libation and perform traditional ch'alla.
